I know it sounds silly, but think about it, Google seems to like interesting web ideas. Textdrive seems to deliver some good service. To buyout blogger.com and urchin seem kind of silly, they invest in textdrive or at least copy some of the concepts. Concept, for example lifetime hosting.
Hehe, it might happen....

Google wants to own your world view of data on the web. I do not think TextDrive fits their aquisition schema.
I just work here, but I do not think we are for sale. We are having too much fun and have years worth of ideas stirring in the pot. This party is just getting started.

berlinbrown, the thought has crossed my mind many times since the first VC offering but I always come round to...
Who in their right mind would sell a golden goose, especially if they cared about and loved that golden goose with all their heart, and they were young and had the rest of their life ahead of them. Big Money is one thing but being happy with your life, which includes how you spend your days, and still making enough money to live comfortably is quite another.
This is the real internet boom, right here. This is what so many people ran after but never managed to catch. And the really funny thing is, I mean this is the truly remarkable but not so surprising reality of the situation.... Dean never planned this. Either did Jason. It's been unfolding as they've moved forward. In the business world it's called synergy. It doesn't come around very often and most people don't realize it when it's happening because they're too wrapped up in other things

Google is an advertising company (and gruber recently pointed out again) that let's people search stuff.
We are (and will be) what people actually think Google is (but isn't).

Google Acquires God
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - September 25, 2005 - Google Inc. today announced that it has acquired God. This acquisition provides Google with God's entire intellectual property, including the knowledge of everything that is, everything that has been, and everything that will be. Financial terms of this transaction were not released.
Available now at http://god.google.com, this search feature enables Google users to access the wealth of information held by the omnipotent creator of the universe. Users will be able to search an infinite number of archived universes with the speed and efficiency of a Google search.
"We welcome God's loyal users into the growing community of Google users worldwide," said Larry Page, Google CEO and co-founder. "What with being omnipotent and omniscient, God is one of the most active and valuable information sources on the Internet. We also found a real synergy between our 'don't do anything evil' philosophy and aspects of God's business plan that we think we can build on."
The company made no comment on the rumours that Google Maps would be expanded to include heaven, or that Google Talk would include the new Prayer protocol, other than to confirm that both items would be PC only, although a spokesman did stress that Google hoped to extend the benefits of being able to directly plead with the saints for intercession to Mac users 'at some point before the end times'.

Following the acquisition of God by Googe Inc, it has been announced that entry to heaven shall henceforth be by invite-only. It is unknown how long Heaven will be in beta.

But the real question is, did he get a free god@gmail.com address or did he have to wait for an invite?

And at the hearing, the prosecutor asks God: "And what were you thinking of, using MSN, when Bill clearly disagrees with Google's slogan?"
God was ordered to switch to GoogleTalk immediately, and let off with a warning.
